Another way cool, slightly creepy US gov logo

A while back I wrote about the US Cyber Command logo, and how it looked kind of cool for a gov logo. The folks in another US agency have one-up’ed that with a giant octopus covering the world.
It is crazy cool. A little creepy, but still crazy cool.
This is apparently how to brand a surveillance satellite organisation.
I love it. It feels brave for the US Gov to allow the folks to working there to have a symbol which takes the micky out of themselves, but also reflects a little of the truth.
I know it would be politically unsound and nasty, but a return to the symbology amid the various world wars where planes counted their kills, and were painted with shark teeth, lightning-bolts, and all sorts of deliberately intimidating icons.
We are fooling ourselves if we try to hide that tools of war are not very very scary, and if a little direct humour helps those people do their jobs then I think that is OK. Obviously there is a line, and where that line is might be different for some people. I’m not talking about the standard US soldiers wearing skull icons or taking mementos from fallen foes (that is way too far), but the odd strange symbol is ok.
